Leopard Print Placemats {DIY}

I'm still working on some projects for our Thanksgiving decorations.  I want things to be lively and fun this year so, I had the idea to make some leopard print place mats.  They were inspired by my leopard print flats that I've been wearing a lot this fall.

Originally, I was thinking of sewing some from drop cloth and then painting the leopard print on to it.  But then I remembered that I hate to sew I had some white burlap and decided to use that instead because then I wouldn't have to sew, which immediately made me like this project 100% more.

white burlap
black craft paint
metallic gold craft paint
fabric medium
paint brushes
After I cut the place mats down to the size I wanted, I pulled off some of the side strands to give it a frayed edge all around.
To paint the leopard print, I first used the metallic gold paint to make dots all over the place mat.  Then, I painted the black border on each of the spots.

I'm loving how they turned out!  What do you think?

This weekend, I'm going to a friends Pampered Chef party, which I'm excited about because she said we were making home made ravioli.  Yum!  What are your plans for the weekend?

As always, thanks so much for reading today!
